Park Square Leeds – 2014
A project celebrating Park Square’s often unnoticed urban, architectural and landscape qualities.
We looked at the Square in a slightly quirky way using photography, film, animation, drawing, painting and music.
The centre piece was a five minute animated creative journey that captures the spirit and idiosyncrasies of our part
of Leeds.
Light to sound
It was my intention to capture a sense of history from the buildings themselves. To achieve this I created a light to sound device housed within a old small cine 8 film camera. I walked around the square recording light from the buildings, a journey of around five minutes.
The sound generated was very raw and sounded a little like a geigercounter used for measuring radiation.
The team then converted this signal into an audio format and used this to generate animated graphics, which was used to brand the Park Square exhibition.
